The Hunters
As dusk falls over the old stone walls, the field’s predators awaken. Most move silently on padded paws through the overgrown grass. The red fox navigates the old cattle paths with watchful eyes, hunting for voles, while the pine marten slips gracefully through the crevices of the masonry. Yet, danger does not only stalk the ground. Occasionally, the silence is broken by a massive shadow cutting through the air above—a buzzard hovering in the wind, or even the breathtaking silhouette of a white-tailed eagle scanning the landscape from the sky. Together, these hunters rule the hidden network of the meadow.
